The Lytham Lives Anthology is being created to embrace the legacy of a community borne  out of fishing and shrimping, transformed by Victorian tourism, to become an elegant town teeming with cafes, bars and boutiques. The aim: to capture the stories of a community made up of generations of long-time locals and newcomers, attracted to the town through work, or a love of its leafy streets and cosmopolitan lifestyle.

By gathering and sharing the best stories of those who have lived in, worked at and known Lytham, we hope to produce a collection of writing that encourages understanding and appreciation of a community that has existed on the Fylde coast for over two thousand years and which, through continual reinvention, has continued to thrive and develop.

You don’t have to consider yourself a writer to be able to write. You don’t need an MA in Creative writing, or a list of publishing credits to your name to submit to the Lytham Lives Anthology. You just have to want to share your story. Whether you’re 16 or 60, we want to give a voice to your memories, experiences, thoughts and observations about Lytham.

If you’d like to be part of this exciting new project, please take a look at our Submissions page to find out how to submit.

If you’d like some guidance about how to start writing, why not come along to one of our FREE Creative Writing workshop, with writer, Jane Brunning, at ParkView4U Community Cafe on Monday 26th November at 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Click here for further details.

Lytham Lives: A Community In Writing will be published in Spring 2013 by the same team of people who are bringing The Festival of Stories to Lytham in May 2013: a two day event for children, teenagers and families, celebrating books, storytelling and the power of imagination.

Lytham Lives: A Community In Writing will be available to buy online and at selected retail establishments in Lytham. A launch event will take place in the run up to The Festival of Stories, and the chosen writers, along with their friends and families, will be invited to attend.
